The Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny (UFHB) (formerly known as University of Cocody-Abidjan) is an institution of higher education located in the Cocody section of Abidjan and the largest in Côte d'Ivoire. With over 50,000 students, the UFHB has 13 faculties and several research centers providing diplomas from two-year undergraduate to professional academic, medical, legal, and specialist degrees. From 1964 to 1996, it remained the main campus of the national University of Abidjan system. It is state owned and operated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In 2008, it had 53,700 students.

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny University has an enrolment of 58,076 students (23,672 girls and 34,404 boys) from the Bachelor to the Doctorate level, with 38 nationalities represented. Articulated with the vision, "a performing, innovative, citizen and open to the world university", the missions of the University Félix Houphouët-Boigny are mainly of two kinds:

  1. To train qualified human resources, dedicated, able to innovate and having a high sense of responsibility towards the nation and the world;
  2. To develop a relevant and competitive research in its fields of competence, in order to meet the development needs of Côte d'Ivoire, of the African continent and of the world.
