The university of Science and Technology Houari-Boumediène (USTHB), is a university located in the town of Bab Ezzouar at about fifteen kilometers to east of Algiers in Algeria.
The university has been designed by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer on an area of 150 hectares and was inaugurated by the President of the Republic in At the time in September 1974, it was called the university. of Science and Technology of Algiers (USTA). Since then it has developed organizationally and structurally.
The USTHB teaches theoretical and applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, civil engineering, electronics, computer science, process engineering, mechanical engineering, geophysics, geology and geography.
It has more than 35,000 students and 1,816 teachers in the various fields of training.
It is classified by the U.S. News & World Report ranked 31st in the 2016 regional ranking of Arab universities.
